Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. — Romans 8:26
On several occasions in my life, I have been left speechless. There have been a few occasions where I have been recognized for something, and I didn’t know what to say. Other times, something happened, and I didn’t know what to say. I felt this way many times when bad things happened to other people while working as a paramedic.
In several circumstances, it has been that those situations happened to me. Maybe I found myself in a challenging situation. Maybe a circumstance in life presented itself, and I was left searching for the words to share exactly how I felt and what I needed. At times, I have simply sat in silence, staring at the wall.
In those moments, I knew I had a need, but the words wouldn’t come out. One writer suggests there are three times that we may find ourselves in this situation. One is when we may not know what’s best. A second is when we don’t know what God can do. The third is when we are so perplexed by trials that we feel helpless and alone.
I am so glad that those situations do not last forever. Maybe I am unable to find the words, but I am not alone! The Holy Spirit makes intercession on our behalf. The Holy Spirit knows exactly what I am dealing with and exactly how to advocate on my behalf.
Maybe you find yourself where the words won’t come out today. Rest assured; you are not alone. There is one making intercession on your behalf. God knows what you are going through, and help is on the way!
If you are not there now, at some point, you will be. Today, be thankful for one who will never leave or forsake you. He will be there with you when these times come to your life.
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
