God knows what’s best

I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon….Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan. — Deuteronomy 3:25 & 27

There it was and it was absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t help myself as I was so amazed at the car that was in front of me. It was one of my favorite colors, had the nice racing stripes. The owner had taken amazing care of it and restored anything that was damaged.

I remember not long after that, I mentioned it to my dad. Yes, I was really young, but it was a beautiful car. I remember I told him that I wanted that car. His words to me were simple. “No.” When I asked why, he said I wasn’t old enough to appreciate the power of the car and would hurt myself.

As I look back, he was probably right. I was far from mature enough to understand the power of the car. While I wanted it so bad, dad had spoken. I was not going to be getting that car.

There are many times in life when we want things. Moses certainly wanted to go into the promised land. He probably felt like he deserved it, but God said no. God let Moses see the land, but he would not go over.

There are many times in our lives that we ask God for things, but God says no. He has a reason and purpose behind saying no. Perhaps it was due to our disobedience. Maybe He knows we wouldn’t be responsible. No matter the case, God has a reason for saying no.

Just because God says no, it does not mean that He does not love us and does not care. It simply means He has another purpose and another plan. While it can be frustrating and disappointing, we must trust in God. After all, God knows what’s best.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
