Let go of the fear

Let go of the fear

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. — Romans 8:15

When we adopted our son many years ago, one of the tasks we had to complete was adoption training. As part of the training, they wanted you to understand the perspective of a child going through adoption. There was a lot of information shared about their feelings, emotions, and how to handle certain situations that may arise.

During the training, one of the issues that they shared with us was the wide range of emotions that an adopted child could feel. It was described in some instances, a child may live in fear. It was especially common in children that had perhaps gone from house to house in foster care. It was the idea if the child made a mistake, the foster parents may no longer want them.

The idea is that once the relationship between an adopted child and parent develops, they will have such a bond that they realize that is not the case. That certainly happened with our son over time. The trust was built, and it was not long until he commonly called us “momma” and “daddy.”

As Christians, we have the same relationship with our Heavenly Father. We are no longer under the bondage of sin. Yet, so many times, we live our lives in fear. It is as if we fear that God will no longer want us. But that’s not the case!

We don’t have to live our lives in fear because the King of Kings has adopted us! There has never been a situation where someone adopted by God was rejected. We can confidently approach Him, our Heavenly Father. Don’t hold on to the fear; let it go!

God has never rejected, lost, or change His mind about one of His adopted children. If you are adopted into His family through the blood of Jesus Christ, you don’t have to live in fear. He is your Heavenly Father, and there’s nothing that will change that.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
