And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. — Exodus 14:10
A few weeks ago, I was driving and attempting to find a new place. I had some pretty good directions to where I was going. Someone told me exactly which light to turn at, the drive to look for, where to park, and where to enter the building. Things started off well, and that’s where it ended.
The weather was terrible. The wind was blowing, it was raining, and I couldn’t see very well. I found what I thought was the place they described, but I was wrong. Soon, I found myself sitting in the middle of a bunch of cars, unable to find my way. The cars kept inching closer, and people were growing frustrated with me.
Soon, there were horns blowing. People were frustrated. I had no idea where I had gone wrong, and I needed help. I had to call the person who was in charge, asking them where I had gone wrong, how to fix it, and how to get back on track.
There are many times in life you find yourself going in the right direction and doing the right things, then you suddenly find yourself in a mess. Maybe you are like the children of Israel and find the enemy chasing you. Maybe you are facing your own Red Sea in front of you. In those situations, you have to know where to go.
I love the last statement of this verse; they cried out to the LORD. They called out to the one that was in charge! Knowing where to go in these situations is important. You don’t need to call a politician or worldly leader. Call on the one who has all the power and authority.
