For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. – Colossians 2:9-10
The little letter of Colossians gives us some of the greatest truths exalting Christ that you’ll find anywhere in the Bible. Of all the verses that Paul writes, I think this morning of what he says in chapter 2, verses 9-10-“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”
Everything that we will ever need for life is found in Him.
Paul declares the equality of Christ with the Father and the Spirit. They are all three in one; the Holy Trinity of God. Jesus is co-equal and co-eternal with them. In Him is all the fulness of the Godhead. He lacked nothing before His birth, He lacked nothing after His birth and He lacks nothing now eternally after His death, burial and resurrection. But the amazing thing to me is that Paul then says that we are complete in Him.
The word “complete” is almost the same identical Greek work “fulness”. It means that we lack nothing we’ll ever need through Christ. If I need mercy, we have all we need in Him. If I need grace, we have all we need in Him. If I need peace, we have all we need in Him. If I need strength, we have all we need in Him and on and on it goes.
We lack nothing we need because He has everything we need for life. What a blessing!
