The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. — Jeremiah 31:3
All throughout Scripture, there are some amazing stories about God. It started with the amazing creation story and how He put everything in place. Fast forward and you read about how He sent the plagues on Egypt in order to compel Pharaoh to let His people go. The children of Israel crossed the Red Sea on dry ground to escape Pharaoh.
The Bible tells us about how God used 300 men with Gideon to defeat the Midianites without ever having to fight. Scripture shares the story about Daniel and how he was shut in the lion’s den. He was never hurt. Or what about the 3 Hebrew boys that were thrown into the fiery furnace, but were never burned.
Fast forward to the New Testament and you can read more about how God’s Son, Jesus, did some amazing things. He healed the sick. Jesus gave sight to the blind. He raised the dead. More than that, He gave His life on the cross and rose again 3 days later. Story after story about our amazing God can be found through Scripture.
Jeremiah says the Lord hath appeared of old unto me. The idea that he was sharing is that it was God who seemed so far away. The God who had done all those amazing things in the past, that same God had loved with an everlasting love.
The same can be said for you! The God who parted the Red Sea, raised the dead, and all of the other amazing things that we have read about, He loves you! The same God who spoke the world into existence and hung the stars in place, He loves you! No matter how discouraging and trying this world can be, remember that same God loves you.
