You don’t have to carry every worry.
If your mind won’t stop racing, pause here for a few quiet minutes.
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6-7
Worry has a way of running the same lap over and over. The conversation you’re dreading. The bill you’re not sure how you’ll cover. The results you’re waiting on. The thing that could go wrong tomorrow, or next week, or next year.
You’ve probably told yourself to just stop thinking about it. That rarely works. Worry doesn’t usually leave because you told it to.
Here’s something worth noticing in this verse: Paul doesn’t say, “Stop worrying.” He says something more specific — in every thing, by prayer, let your requests be made known to God. He gives worry somewhere to go.
That distinction matters. You weren’t built to sit and stare at a problem until it resolves itself in your head. Your mind isn’t a filing cabinet for fear. It was never meant to hold every unresolved thing at once.
So instead of trying to talk yourself out of the worry, try handing it over. Not once, and not perfectly — this verse says in every thing, which sounds a lot like permission to keep bringing it back to God as many times as it resurfaces.
And notice what’s promised isn’t necessarily an answer. It’s peace. A peace the verse itself admits doesn’t make logical sense — it passeth all understanding. You may not have your situation figured out by the end of this page. That’s alright. Peace was never waiting on your understanding to catch up first.
Take a slow breath.
Try saying it out loud, or just in your head: “Lord, here’s what I’m carrying.” Then name it — specifically, honestly — and let that be the prayer.
Your mind doesn’t have to hold this alone tonight.
