For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. — Luke 1:48
As we continue to think ahead of Christmas about the coming celebration of Jesus birth, I could not help but reflect on these words in Luke 1. Mary was sharing her thoughts about the experience she was having. In this verse, we see the humbleness of Mary in being chosen to be the mother of Jesus.
She realized that she was blessed. Her acknowledgement of a low estate signifies that she didn’t see herself as worthy, but God did! He saw her as a willing vessel, chosen to be the mother of Jesus. She realized that for generations, she would be recognized as blessed of God to be Jesus mother.
Many today still get distracted in the aspect of Mary and how blessed she is. They celebrate her as the mother of Jesus, but fail to acknowledge that she has no ability to save them. Only Jesus can save!
While no one alive today has been blessed in the same way as Mary, we have all experienced the blessings of God. While we have been blessed, none of those blessings are enough to save us from our sins. Only Jesus will do! Only Jesus can save from sin.
Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior? If not, you can accept Jesus as Savior today and know the real blessing of salvation. No one else can do that for you. Only Jesus can save!
