Not long ago, I was reading the story about someone who had a life that was full of strife. Their childhood was filled with loss. They lost many opportunities that life often affords as one enters into adulthood as well.
As their life continued, they lost their spouse, their family, and more. Tragedy after tragedy. If you asked someone in this world, it was almost as if their life was cursed and many would even say they should have just given up.
But this person didn’t give up. They continued on through life, leaving a lasting impression on many people through their moments of strife. Which is exactly what we are called to do in this world.
We are reminded in this verse that anything this world may bring on our life is nothing but light affliction. It’s temporary, lasting just a moment. The things that matter are the eternal things. In other words, the strife will not last long!
What has you down in this life? No matter what strife may be against you, it is temporary. One day soon, we will see eternity come into view. At that moment, the things of this life will no longer matter or seem significant. Instead, we will be with our Savior forever! Don’t focus on the temporary strife, focus on the eternal goal!
