From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. — John 6:66
There have been several times in my life when I have had people walk away. I recall having close friends in the past who are no longer friends. At times, those people walked away because of something I did. Other times, they made the decision to walk away on their own.
In this instance, these people that were following Jesus walked away, but it was due to both the examples I shared. First, Jesus was teaching and they didn’t like what He had to say. Second, they walked away by their own choice and chose to no longer follow Him.
No matter what may cause people to walk away, it can leave us feeling alone. Our human nature was designed to be lived around other people. That’s why scripture references that we are in this thing of life together so many times.
Perhaps you find yourself there, or have been there in the past. It’s not a moment to lose faith, however. Our Savior went through the same thing because of His teachings. Others decided to walk away.
Instead of letting those who walk away disrupt your walk with God, draw closer to Him. He knows what you are going through and will be there for you when no one else is. Others may walk away, but God never will!
