Danger on the horizon

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. — Psalm 91:2

Recently, my family and I were driving down the road and we could see some clouds on the horizon. Something looked a bit odd about the clouds, as there was one area that seemed to be much lower than the others. We continued our drive, but I kept a watch on the horizon.

After a few minutes, I noticed that the cloud that was lower became much lower. It was certainly a funnel cloud amid the storm that was brewing. We watched in the distance as we drove, watching the funnel lower toward the ground and then rise back up again.

After a few minutes, the funnel cloud was gone, but then we found ourselves amid the storms. The thunder began and the rain poured. Those clouds were a sign of what was coming. We were able to see the danger on the horizon.

There are times in life where it seems we become surrounded by storm clouds. Everywhere we look, we can see danger on the horizon. We may try to find refuge from the storms, but this world offers no refuge.

But God is a refuge for those who have put their faith in Him! He is a refuge, a fortress, and able to protect us no matter the danger that life brings our way. Maybe you see danger on the horizon today. Have no fear; God is a refuge and you can trust in Him!
