Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem. — Acts 9:13

There are many times in life I can recall being amazed by how God did something. There are numerous occasions when I recall some of the most challenging people I had ever met who came to receive Christ. People who were known to be difficult, hard-nosed, confrontational, and many other things you can imagine. In other words, we often think of these people as the impossible.

It is a situation where we feel as though the person is almost gone. They are so worldly, so full of sin, that there is no way God could change them or use them. That certainly seems to be the case for Ananias here. When he was told to go to Saul, it was as if he said, “God, there’s no way that could happen.”

But God is one who accomplishes the impossible. For those who seem unreachable, untouchable, or even beyond salvation, God can reach and change them. But sometimes, it involves our willingness to be used by God. It is not that we can change them, but that God uses us to help.

Ananias played an important role in the life of Saul. To this point, Saul’s only experience was a supernatural experience with God. Now, Ananias added a human experience. One of a fellow believer who could provide encouragement and help along the way.

The story of Ananias is a challenge. Are we willing to let God use us? Think of the worst of the worst situations today, one that you feel is not possible. If God wanted, would you let God use you in that situation? While it may be difficult to understand, our desire should be that God would use us and that we are willing to go when He asks.
