Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. — Isaiah 41:10
Life has an interesting way of presenting us with bad news. Typically, our lives are going along completely normal and then suddenly, we are given some form of bad news. I recall many of those moments of bad news in my life. Those moments lead you to some of the most intense storms you can face in life.
Bad news comes in many different forms and impacts our lives in a variety of ways. The bad news may involve you or a close relative or friend. It could have life-changing impacts, such as the tragedy of someone being gone. It could bring about the unknown of not knowing what the future may hold.
But perhaps the most lasting impact that these moments of bad news have is on our spiritual lives. In these moments of bad news, we face a decision. We must decide how we are going to react to those moments of bad news. Many times, it means that we start looking for help in navigating the bad news.
This verse says, “Do not be dismayed.” The original word for dismayed is shâ‛âh, meaning to look around anxiously for help. But we are quickly reminded we do not have to look far. We have help that is greater than anything this world has to offer!
Bad news is going to happen in all of our lives. When the bad news comes into your life, trust God. He has the strength and help you need, no matter what you may face. Let Him hold you, giving you the comfort, peace, strength, and help that you need.
