Many years ago I worked for a company where I traveled extensively. It was not uncommon for me to be in several states over the course of just a few days. When I wasn’t traveling, I worked from my home office in North Carolina at the time.
Soon after I accepted the role, I began meeting all the people I was working with. I remember being asked the question repeatedly if I had met one particular executive yet. At that point, I had not met this person. Everyone would immediately say, you better be prepared to meet him. Apparently, this person was rather difficult to work with for many of the people.
Sometime later, I had the opportunity to meet this person. I spent a lot of time preparing before I met them. I asked for advice and wanted to be as prepared as I could be for the meeting. After several minutes of talking, I quickly realized what my coworkers were saying. This person was intense, striving for excellence in everything that they did.
We often spend countless time preparing for things like this in our lives. We study, ask questions, look to find information, and so much more. But things in this life are temporary, only lasting a short while. By spending all our time focused on things of this world, we can often overlook being prepared for God!
Have you spent any time preparing for God? If Jesus were to return today, are you ready? While there are moments in this life we want to be prepared for, the most important thing is that we are prepared to meet God. It is a moment that we are all guaranteed, and we better be prepared!
