Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord’s sake. — Daniel 9:17

Not long ago, I was at home and trying to get my son’s attention. He was in his room and I was just outside the door and calling his name. After calling on him several times, he had still yet to respond. Frustrated, I went to his room to find out what was going on.

After I arrived at his room, I saw him playing on the floor. He was moving around, making noises, moving his toys, and enjoying his time. As I approached, he didn’t hear me. When I got near him, I said his name and he immediately looked up. I told him that I had been calling for him and he looked at me and said, “I didn’t hear you.”

There are many times in life that we may feel as though we are not being heard. It can be frustrating when others don’t hear us, but it can be disheartening isn’t the moments we feel like God doesn’t hear us. It can often leave us wanting to ask God, “Do you hear me?”

That’s exactly what Daniel did. In his prayer, he asks that God would hear his prayer. This is more than just hearing, but he is seeking some type of acknowledgment from God. Sometimes, we just need to know that we have been heard!

Have you been praying and it seems as though God hasn’t heard you? Do you feel like God is not listening? Instead of being discouraged and frustrated, tell God. Talk to Him about it, letting Him know how you feel.
