Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering. — Hebrews 10:23

Not long ago, I had a conversation with someone, and we talked about how times have changed regarding work. It used to be that years ago, you would hear of someone working for a company for many years. Now, it is not uncommon for people to change jobs every couple of years. There is little loyalty to an employer as there used to be years ago.

There are certainly many contributing factors to this. Companies used to value loyalty, finding ways to show employees that they wanted them there. Many offered pensions, extra benefits, and more. But those benefits and perks have certainly changed over the years. A company’s appreciation of loyalty is not what it used to be, leaving many employees searching for new jobs in order to make more money or have benefits they do not have now.

As we talked, we seemed to agree that many of these changes were brought about by circumstances of life. Maybe someone needed better pay, better benefits, or other things. Perhaps they wanted better work hours, or a position that allowed them to spend more time with family.

While there are situations in life that may cause us to change things in life, they should never cause us to change our faithfulness to God. God has never wavered in His love, care, and compassion for us. In all the times that we have failed Him, He still loved us!

Things in our lives may change. Our homes may change. Our work may change. But our love for God and faithfulness to Him should never change. We should remain faithful to God, no matter what life brings our way. Today, take a moment to examine your faith. Is it wavering in the uncertainty of life?
