Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. — 1 Peter 5:7
Our family has moved several times over the past many years. Some of the moves were close moves, where we moved with the help of family and friends. Some of the moves were across states and hundreds of miles. In those instances, we utilized moving companies that helped us load the items and transport them much more efficiently.
In one of those instances, I remember watching the movers loading up boxes. They were taking boxed from the second floor of our home and moving them down to the first floor to take to the moving truck. Every few steps was another person, and they were passing the boxes back and forth. Once they reached the bottom, the last guy would take a stack of boxes and place them where they were wanted.
It was amazing to watch as the others passed one box at a time to each other, but the last guy wanted to take as many boxes as he could. He would carry what he could, and then he looked at others and asked them to put more on top. At times, it looked as though he was carrying more than he should be!
There are many times in our lives we find ourselves in a similar situation. We find ourselves carrying the burdens and cares of life, and they weigh us down. But we can’t forget that God wants us to cast our cares upon Him so that He can help us through.
In the middle of the trial, it sickness and death, or in challenging circumstances of life, God is there. As the verse says, He cares for you! So much so that He is waiting with open arms. He wants to help you, giving you the grace and strength to make it through. We just have to trust Him and give it all to Him!
