And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. — Ruth 4:15
The book of Ruth is an amazing book to study for any Christian. Many people want to read books for the storyline, and the book of Ruth is full of them. The book, named for a woman named Ruth, outlines the love story of Ruth and Boaz. But the story is about Naomi just as much as it is about Ruth.
In the beginning of the book, we read of the tragedy in Naomi’s life. She was with her husband and two sons, but as we read, the husband and two sons both died. In Naomi’s mind, all hope was gone. She had lost everything important to her and told her daughter-in-laws to just return home.
Thankfully, the tragedy is not the end of the story. Ruth and Boaz have a son, bringing restoration to Naomi as we read in this verse. From tragedy would come great blessing. Though hope was lost for a period, it was restored by God in a mighty way.
There are times in life that tragedy will strike. At its worst, it may seem like all our hope is lost. But God is not finished with our story. If we are still here, God is still writing the chapters of our lives. While we may feel like hope is lost, all hope is not lost!
Maybe you are dealing with the struggles of tragedy in life. While it may seem as though hope is lost and you just want to give up, don’t! God is not finished with your story. Keep your faith and trust in God through the tragedy. You never know what blessings the final chapter may hold.
