Where is your God?

My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? — Psalm 42:3

Not long ago, I was listening to a podcast where the person on the show posed the question, “Where is God?” They presented what they called facts as to why they believed that God did not exist. This person said that even if God did exist, there is no evidence that He cares for anyone else.

This is certainly not surprising since our world today continues to make the argument against God. There are those who want to argue over whether God really exists or not. Others want to try to say that God does not care for anyone. Others say if God did care, He wouldn’t send anyone to hell and wouldn’t allow any pain and suffering in life. Scripture tells another story, however.

Throughout the Bible, there are tales of suffering. There are stories that describe death, sickness, disappointment, depression, and lives devastated by the effects of sin. There are even stories of those who suffered when they did not sin, like Job! All the while, they faced questions like the one here in Psalms: where is thy God?

The Bible never promises that our Christian life will be easy. Simply accepting Jesus Christ as Savior does not guarantee there will never be heartache, challenges, or tears. But God does promise that He will be with us through all that we face. We will never have to face the challenges of life alone.

While the world may ask the question where is your God, we can be assured He is ever present, active and working in our lives. Don’t let the questions of this world get you to doubt the ability of God. He has been faithful and always will be.
