And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. — Romans 5:11

Not long after my son received his cochlear implants, we took him to the doctor, where his sound processors were activated. Soon, I remember watching him as he walked around the house, hearing sounds for the first time! He would often place his head up against something, trying to hear the sound more intensely, figuring out all the new noises that he was hearing.

It didn’t take long for him to find a love of music. He spoke only a few words, but he would sign to us that he wanted to listen to music. He fell in love with it as soon as he heard it. Then, he wanted to learn how to sing it. He would beg us to teach him words to songs so he could sing along.

One of the first songs that he learned to sing was the children’s song that says the words, “I’ve got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart.” He couldn’t say most of the words, but he could emphatically say the word “where?” He knew that joy would be in his heart as he sang and signed away.

While the words of the song are simple, there is significant truth in them. There is a joy in God through Jesus Christ that we can have in our hearts. It is only found through Jesus once we have confessed our sins and asked Him to forgive and save us.

If you were asked about the joy of Jesus in your heart, do you have it? Do you have the joy of knowing Jesus Christ as your Savior down deep, knowing that you are forgiven of your sins? When you accept Him, it’s a joy beyond measure. If you have that joy, praise Him today! If you don’t know Jesus as Savior, ask Him to save you today and receive the joy only He can provide!

Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
