Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD. — Psalm 70:1
“Dad, come here, hurry,” were the words that I heard yelled at me across the house. Initially, I would normally think this was just an attempt of my son to get my attention to do something. After all, it wasn’t uncommon for my son to want me to come see something or do something with him. Usually, he wanted me to see the latest thing he had built with his toy blocks that he loves to play with.
But he didn’t usually say the word hurry when he called for me. That part caught me off guard. Then there was the tone of his voice. The call was almost in panic. It was sincere. Something was going on, and he needed my help. As I made my way across the house, I found him in quite the situation.
He had made his way, climbing up onto the cabinet to get a cup. Soon, he realized he had gone too far. He was either going to fall, or he was going to drop the cup and potentially break it. He had tried all he could on his own, but now, he knew he needed help.
That’s certainly how things are for us as Christians a lot of times, too. We try everything we can on our own, but soon, we realize that we are in too deep. We are in the middle of trouble, and we need God to come help us.
Maybe you are in one of those moments today. I’m so glad that God hears and answers our prayers and cries. When we call on Him and need Him to hurry, He is always there and always shows up right on time! Do you need Him to help you today? Have you cried out for Him to hurry? If so, don’t lose faith. He heard you, and help is on the way!
