Satisfaction in no

Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan. — Deuteronomy 3:27

There are many times in life that I have heard the word no. I remember hearing it a lot when I was younger from my parents. They were trying to teach me what was right. My youthful ideas often led me to want to do things that were not in my best interest. My parents would often respond with no.

Even aside from youth, there are still times that we all hear the word no. Maybe it is in a work situation, a personal relationship, raising our own children, or so many other circumstances in life. But one of the most challenging is when we ask something of God and He says no.

I’m sure Moses felt as though his request of God was valid. He wanted to go over Jordan and enter into the land. But God said no. He had other plans, better plans. While He didn’t allow Moses to go over, God did allow Moses some satisfaction in the word no. He allowed Him to see the land.

There are times that God will tell us no. We don’t always understand the reasons why, but God has a purpose and plan. Rather than becoming upset and frustrated with God when He says no, we should look for the satisfaction in God’s no.

Maybe God is protecting you from something. Maybe His plan takes you a different route, has a different purpose, or fulfills His plan in a different way. Don’t be upset with God’s no. Trust His plan. Have faith that He will help you find the satisfaction in the no.

Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue its work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
