And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you? — Joshua 18:3

Several years ago, I was working with an employee who liked to procrastinate. They were working on a project that needed to be completed as quickly as possible. Other people were depending on him to finish his work. I became concerned about reaching the deadline, so I decided to schedule a meeting to get an update.

After talking for a few minutes, I realized the project was in trouble. He had procrastinated, just as I thought, and had not even started the project. I asked the question, “How long are you going to wait to get started?” After struggling to answer, he knew that he must get going immediately so he could reach the finish line.

In talking with the people, Joshua asked a similar question. God have given them the land, but they had yet to go in to possess it. If I were to summarize what Joshua asked, he was essentially asking them, “How long are you going to wait?

As Christians, we often talk about looking for and following the will of God. In talking with many Christian’s throughout the years, one thing I have heard is, “I know what God wants me to do, I just need to do it.” But if God has given us the plan, how long are we going to wait before we listen?

God wants us to follow Him and live our lives according to His will. Once He shows us the way, we must be diligent to follow. Are you following God’s will for your life today? If not, how long are you going to wait? Stop delaying and commit to following God’s will today!
