Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. — Psalm 150:6
Just the other day, my family and I sat down to eat at a local pizza restaurant. When the waitress sat down the pizza on the table, she asked a question that caught me off guard. She said, “Would you like me to serve you your pizza?” We responded back and shared that she didn’t need to place sliced of pizza on our plates for us. But it reminded me of many changes in our society in recent years.
There are many people today that want someone else to do everything for them. They want someone else to do their shopping. Many want someone else to run their errands, do their work, make their calls, or even pay their bills. But there are some things in life that others cannot do for us. Especially spiritually.
For example, no one can accept Jesus as Savior on our behalf. That is something that we must do. Others might be able to pray for us, but that doesn’t replace the need for prayer in our own lives. But this verse catches my attention in that the psalmist writes let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.
In other words, no one else can do it for you. You need to do it yourself. But here in the final verse of the Psalms, it is like a punctuation mark. It is as if after all that has been experienced and all that has been gone through, we should praise God.
Today, take a moment to praise God for all His goodness. For all that He has done for us, He is worthy of our praise. It is not something that someone else can do for us. It is something you need to do yourself. Praise Him today!
