Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work. — Titus 3:1

There are so many times that I cannot help but laugh at my son. One of his favorite things to do is to take off his socks and shoes. As soon as we walk into the door of our home, the first thing he does is take off his socks and shoes. Even if we are only going into the house for a few moments, he will quickly have his shoes off and socks thrown across the floor.

But the most challenging thing is when we tell him to be ready. My wife or I can look at him and tell him to get ready to go, but he will fight putting on his socks and shoes until the last minute. If we are in a hurry, there’s little hope that he will be ready when we are.

There is something to be said about being ready. It’s a sign of preparation. It’s someone who has put in the necessary steps to do something important. If someone is ready, they don’t have to be urged, coaxed, or persuaded. They are ready!

Paul writes here about the importance of a Christian being ready. A Christian should be ready to do good, no matter when needed. But being ready is more than just being prepared, it’s also the idea that the Christian counts it an honor to do something good.

Do you live your life ready to do something good? To do things that honor God, glorify Him, and show others the love of God? God shouldn’t have to force us to do good. It should be something that we are prepared for. We should live our lives ready to do something good!

Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue its work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
