Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. — Galatians 1:7
There is something to be said about the truth. Some of the most frustrating times in life can be when we are not given the truth. It can be a child who doesn’t share the truth with us, a parent, a friend, a coworker, or even leaders around us. We can all think back on times when someone told us something that we found out later was not true.
But more than just telling something that is not true, it is frustrating with someone ignores the truth. Perhaps the truth is out there, people have seen it or heard it, and they choose to ignore it. Even when someone can point out the truth in front of them, there are times that others may purposefully ignore it just to deceive someone else.
There is a responsibility in handling the truth. Just before this verse, Paul reminds of the gospel of grace, and follows up here by saying there is no other gospel. In other words, it is the truth. Even though they had the truth, some were ignoring it and perverting it.
We still see this in our day. Rather than following God’s word and the truth it shares, many will want to teach their own ways. They want to share their own feelings, beliefs, or opinions. But there is only one gospel and we should be focused on it!
As Christians, our desire should be that any aspect of God’s word that enters our lives is based on the truth. Is it sharing man’s opinion or God’s? If anything is contrary to God’s word and the truth of the gospel, we should stay away.
But even more, as we live our lives, we should live our lives according to the truth of God. Our lives should be a witness to the truth of God. Others should be able to see how we live our lives according to God’s word.
Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
