My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. — Psalm 130:6
Waiting is not an easy task. There are many times in life that we are forced to wait. I still remember the day that my son was rolled back into the operating room for his cochlear implants. My wife and I were forced to wait for him in the waiting room. It was a challenging time for me as a father.
I had spent many years wanting to have a child. We finally were able to become parents after adopting our son from China, but he was deaf. We had the promise that he should be able to hear with the implants, and I wanted to be there for him. But I couldn’t. I was left in the waiting room waiting.
Every time the door opened and each time the phone rang, I was hoping it was for us. I wanted to know that he was ok. There was the desire for us to know the surgery went well. I was earnestly waiting like I never had before. It was one of the most challenging experiences in my life.
In this verse, the psalmist was describing such a moment. A moment where they were waiting on God in earnest. Have you ever been there? Have you ever had a moment in your life where you needed Him to intervene more than any other time, but had to wait?
Earnestly waiting on God is never easy. We are left with moments of being on the edge of our seats, hoping and praying that this is the moment He steps in or answers. But we have the promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. But sometimes, we have to wait. Trust in Him. He will not let you down!
