For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. — 2 Corinthians 1:5

There is something to be said about something being comfortable. For example, maybe you have had the worst day, and you just need to find comfort. For some, it may be to curl up on the couch with a good book. For others, it may be the perfect pair of pajamas, a specific set of sheets, or maybe even a specific meal that helps you overcome a bad day.

Our human nature is to love comfort. We often do our best to stay away from things that take us out of our comfort zone. We may avoid conversations that would lead to uncomfortable situations. But life is filled with moments that are uncomfortable. The trials and circumstances of life can leave us uncomfortable in so many different ways.

In fact, as the verse here starts, we are reminded that the sufferings of Christ abound in us. In other words, we are going to have moments in life where we suffer things like Jesus did, and even at the expense of following Him. It can be uncomfortable for even the strongest of people in those circumstances.

But we do not have to live our lives without any comfort. The verse continues and reminds us that our consolidation aboundeth by Christ. Through Christ, an abundant measure of comfort is imparted to us. In other words, even though we might suffer, He has comforting mercy and grace to see us through!

What has you uncomfortable today? Are you concerned about things in life? Perhaps the trials and circumstances have become hard to bear. Maybe you are fearful about what the future holds. Don’t settle for being uncomfortable. There is comfort in Christ available to you. Instead of trying to handle it on your own, give it to Him and let Him give you comfort today!

Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
