I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. — Psalm 40:1
Recently, I had an appointment that I needed to attend. I arrived before the appointment, as I had been asked to do. After filling out some paperwork and providing information that was needed, I was told I could sit and wait. I really didn’t think much about it because, after all, I was early, and at times, you do have to wait for an appointment.
As time continued to pass, I began to watch others who had been waiting becoming frustrated. I watched as they approached the window, asking when they were going to be called. The staff began to explain that they were running behind and would take them back for their appointment as soon as they could. Some people were more understanding than others.
When I was in the office, I waited for almost an hour after my appointment. But soon, I heard my name called. I was escorted into another room, where I was told they would do their best to get to me quickly. To me, it was not an issue. I needed the appointment and was willing to wait no matter how long it took.
There are times in my life when I would have been just like the others. I would have been impatient, pushing to get myself in quicker. But there are times in life when we must wait. Sometimes, that is waiting patiently for God.
When we act without waiting on God, we will often make the wrong decisions. We may take the wrong path, leading us to even more problems. It is not always easy to wait. In fact, it may be the hardest thing to do when you need God to intervene. But rest assured, God has heard your prayer and will answer you.
Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
