But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. — James 3:17
Not long ago, I received a phone call from someone with a unique question. They said, “Can I ask you to share some wisdom?” I was caught off guard. I am far from the smartest person in any room. If I could think of anyone to call and ask to share some wisdom, I am not sure I would even list myself as a resource for anyone or anything.
But wanting to be a good friend, I said I would help in any way I could. They began to share the circumstances that they were facing. Soon, I understood why they asked for my opinion. It was similar to a situation that I faced in my life once before.
As I began to share my thoughts, I couldn’t help but think about the many times I needed wisdom. I have been blessed to have many great friends throughout my life who have helped guide me and direct me to the right paths. But I was also reminded of the importance of Godly wisdom.
The world is full of knowledge, but much of it leaves God out. But we see in this verse the importance of Godly wisdom and the characteristics that it shares. It is pure, gentle, able to be followed, gives mercy, produces good fruit, and is fair. How much better would our world be if everyone used Godly wisdom?
As we go through our lives, our desire should be that we have the opportunity to share some wisdom with those around us. Not necessarily wisdom of this world, but Godly wisdom. Wisdom that we have received from a close relationship with God.
Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
