For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. — Psalm 71:5

We can all probably remember our excitement as kids on Christmas morning. Certainly, the season is not about gifts, but generally, there are gifts given at that time of year. For kids, it is a time of expectation. Many have found a specific thing or two that they want, and they are putting all their hopes on getting that thing.

At times, that comes true. There are those moments when they get exactly what they have hoped for. They start to unwrap the gift, and exactly what their heart desires is there. There is joy, there is happiness, and there is a sense of fulfillment. But at other times, those wishes and hopes do not come true.

There are many things that can contribute. Perhaps the family couldn’t afford the item. Maybe the item was difficult to find. No matter what the situation, you can probably either imagine or relate to the disappointment. Life is filled with moments when we get our hopes up, only to be let down in the end.

But that’s not the case with God. No matter what you are facing, placing your hope in God is well-founded hope! No matter the circumstance, the trial, or the difficulty, God has always been able to overcome and deliver. Others around you may fail you, but He never will!

Maybe you have experienced the disappointment of others letting you down. Maybe you had your hopes up, your plans, your dreams, just to see them shattered. Don’t lose faith. God is there, and He knows what you are going through. You can put your hope in a lot of places, but God will never let you down. Hope in God is well-founded hope.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
