The situation was not a good one. Some significant mistakes were made. From the beginning, the process was broken, communication had failed, and in the end, this person was let down. Now, as the leader of the group that made the mistake, I had to be the one to apologize. There were many ways that I could handle the situation as I explained what had happened.
I could have blamed the entire situation on others. For example, I could have said another team made the mistake. Plenty of other teams were involved, but mine had the ultimate oversight. I could have blamed the process for being antiquated. Or perhaps I could have even blamed people on my team. After all, they were the ones doing the work.
But if I had done any of these things, I would have handled the situation the wrong way. The correct way to handle it was to admit there was a mistake that was made, apologize, and make it right again. That is exactly what my team and I did.
There are many times in life we find ourselves in situations where we are faced with choices. We can choose to handle things the right way or handle things the wrong way. God expects that we handle things with honesty and integrity. Not only is handling things this way wise, but it is also a source of happiness for the Christian.
Are you facing a dilemma in your life on how to handle a situation? Rather than looking for excuses or perhaps handling things the wrong way, focus on handling them the right way. Trust God to guide you, handling the dilemma with honesty and integrity. Doing so may not be easy, but it will guide you to happiness.
