Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. — James 5:7

When I was younger, I always remember that my dad loved to have a garden. He was not a master farmer, but he loved to have a small area to grow corn, beans, tomatoes, or a variety of other vegetables. I remember many years watching him work in that garden, and occasionally helping myself.

It was always interesting to me to watch as he planted seeds in the garden. He would plan out the rows, dig them, and then he would place the seed in the dirt spaced as he wanted. He would cover it up, water it, and then wait. Sometimes, the plants would sprout quickly. Other times, it took a lot of patience to wait.

That was the part that I always hated. I always wanted to see something come out of the ground very quickly. I wanted to see the plants grow and vegetables grow quickly. It was always great to try many of the things that we grew. But I learned that sometimes you just have to wait.

There are many occasions in our lives when we want God to show up and intervene. The challenges and difficulties can often seem like they will overtake us. It sure would be nice if God would just show up and fix things almost immediately.

But sometimes, we have to wait on God. It is not saying that God does not care. It is not that God is not interested. But sometimes, the best experiences of God come after the testing of our patience. While we may want God to show up and fix it right now, sometimes, we just have to wait on Him.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
