And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. — Exodus 4:10

Not long ago, someone shared a job posting with me and asked me for my opinion. They were looking for a new position, and they felt this one might be a possibility. As I read the posting, it shared all the key functions of the job. The person would have some pretty significant responsibilities in the role.

Near the end of the posting, there was a section that said, “Requirements.” These were the necessary qualifications, training, and experiences that the company wanted the person to have before applying. There were some technical details that were shared I wasn’t familiar with. So I asked the question, do you have what it takes to do the role?

The company had its expectations. But without speaking with someone at the company, I wasn’t sure about the requirements. I certainly did not understand the certifications and other requirements that were listed. But for someone who is qualified and interested, they would know if they have what it takes.

So many times, we set out an expectation of what it takes to serve God and be a vessel to be used by God. Moses was quick to find excuses. He said he wasn’t eloquent. As we understand it, he had challenges in speaking and gathering his thoughts. He thought God had special requirements and skills needed to serve Him.

But God is looking at the heart. He wants those who are willing. Those who will trust Him. God desires those who realize that no matter what weaknesses we may see in ourselves, God can overcome them and use us to accomplish His will.

So, do you have what it takes? Do you have what it takes to serve God? It doesn’t take an advanced degree or special training. God is looking for someone who will trust Him and one who is willing. God will take care of the rest.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
