The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.  — Psalm 37:31

I have often heard it said what is in your heart is what will come out. There are many examples of this in life. One that quickly comes to mind is that of someone who is greedy. In their heart, they have a love of money. Their heart and their mind is focused on getting more. At all costs, they want as much money as they can possibly get.

The problem with this is that they often will resort to sin and wickedness to obtain it. It can often start as something simple. Perhaps it is just a “small lie.” They mislead someone. They deceive someone. Whatever it may be, it ends up becoming something bigger. They continue to crave more, and soon, they are consumed by it. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Our hearts are a place where we dwell on things. We are either going to be dwelling on good or evil. There is no in-between. Rather than the meditations of our heart being a breeding ground for evil, our desire should be that our hearts dwell on good.

David reminds us here of the importance of dwelling on the things of God. If we are focused on living our lives for God, our steps shall be sure. But it all starts with the meditations of our hearts. What are we dwelling on? What are we focused on?

Satan would love nothing more than the wickedness of this world to consume our hearts. Instead, the meditations of our hearts should be on God! Our hearts should be filled with the word of God, focused on following and doing God’s will in our lives. If you examined your heart today, what is it filled with?

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
