That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man. — Ephesians 3:16
Since we were married, my wife and I have lived in several homes. We started out in a small starter home, but as time passed, we needed something larger. We had accumulated more things, we adopted our son, and we also moved for new jobs in new towns. The one thing that I hated the most was moving!
Countless hours of packing boxes wasn’t enough. Then, I had to take time to load them all into a truck. The truck needed to be driven to the new location and unpack everything once again. It was a tiring task, and by the end of a moving day, I knew that I needed to ask for help. I was exhausted, and things that I could lift alone earlier in the day seemed much heavier now.
The weight in those boxes had not changed. They still contained the same amount of items. What had changed was my strength and perspective. I was weaker after the day, and my perspective was that without help, I would most certainly fall or injure myself.
So many times in the Christian life, we often think that we can do things alone. We will try in our own strength and power. After some time, that’s when the battle weighs on us. Our perspective changes and we quickly realize, we can’t do it alone.
Paul certainly knew what that was like! He realized that his strength to continue in the battle came from God. He realized that he, along with any other Christian, must pray for strength for the inner man. Strength for the heart, mind, and soul. Because without strength from God, we will surely fail.
Maybe you have been trying to do it all on your own. Perhaps you thought you could do it without help, but now you find yourself weary in the battle. There is nothing wrong with changing perspective. Instead of trying all on your own, let God have it! He is able to give you strength to face the battle, no matter what it is!
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
