By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. — Hebrews 11:31

Recently, I found myself on a text message string with a group of other people. In this group, there were people from various backgrounds. Some were businessmen, some were healthcare professionals, and others were factory workers and supervisors. The text chain was a message encouraging people to be involved in a specific event that was taking place for Christians. It was asking for volunteers and others who may be willing to help.

It was really interesting as I read through the text chain of responses. Some of the responses were anticipated, saying they had to work and would be unable to attend. Others, however, started to share how they felt they were not qualified to help. They were not trained or experienced in what was taking place to feel like a benefit.

I was reminded of Rahab, the harlot. If we were picking people to be workers for God, she probably wouldn’t have been the first choice. But God was not looking at what we were looking at. He was looking at the heart of the person, one willing to serve.

We often make a lot of excuses for why we cannot serve God. Maybe it’s time. Perhaps it is the location. But many times I often hear other Christians share they just don’t feel trained to serve in a role. But serving God is more than just being trained.

God is looking for those who are willing to serve Him. He is looking for Christians who are willing to step out of their comfort zone, no matter their background or past. Instead of giving God excuses, we should be giving Him our service! Are you willing to serve God, or are you just giving excuses?

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
