I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. — Revelation 1:8

Most people, including myself, find something that is their favorite and keep it. For example, when I find a pair of jeans that is really comfortable, I will keep them as long as possible. Those jeans may develop holes, will become extremely worn, and eventually will no longer be able to be used.

Things in this world were not meant to last forever. They are all temporary. The things we buy, the things we eat, and even our very own bodies all wear out. No matter how advanced science and medicine become, they cannot make the things of this world last forever. But thankfully, our hope is not in the things of this world!

We often read the words “Alpha and Omega.” The first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. God is the beginning and the end. In other words, long before you or I were ever in existence, God was. Long after we have passed on from this world, God will continue to be. He is not fazed by anything in this world!

But far too often, we are trusting in the things of this world more than we trust in God. We put our faith in our retirement plans and savings accounts. Others will trust in their homes, land, and worldly possessions. But none of these will last forever.

Are we trusting in things of this life more than we trust in God? If so, our hopes are in temporary things that will let us down. All of our hope and trust should be in the Alpha and Omega, the One who is unfazed by things in this world.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
