How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? — Psalm 13:2

There have been many times in my life when I had to simply wait. I’ve often shared the story about adopting our son from China. Months before we went to China to bring him home, we knew about him. We knew his name, his story, his background, and that he would soon be our son.

But that didn’t mean it would happen overnight. Months of paperwork, health examinations, government documents, and more stood between us and him. We had to complete everything, and submit it for review and approval. Then came the most challenging part, we had to wait.

Waiting for something that is out of our control is one of the worst things to experience. I have talked with many people who were waiting on test results from the doctor. Their waiting often led to worry, fear, or many other things. Even some of the strongest Christians that we can learn from in the Bible faced those same situations. That’s what we see in the life of David here in this verse.

What is causing you to worry and fear in your life? Are you waiting on something that seems as though it will never happen? Maybe you have prayed a prayer and you are just waiting on God to answer and perhaps you find yourself feeling like David in this verse. Maybe you find yourself asking, “God, how long will I have to wait?”

We may not always understand God’s timing, but we must trust in God’s timing. He knows exactly what is taking place. He knows your worry, your fear, your prayer, or whatever situation you may find yourself in. Rest assured, your situation is under control!

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
