The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. — Proverbs 16:17

Not long after graduating high school, I took a job with a local bank. After a few months, I had to travel and attend an in-person orientation at their corporate office. Their office was near several major college campuses, so I decided I would take the opportunity to attend a sports game while I was in town. I drove to the campus, parked where I was told to park, and walked to the arena to watch the game.

After the game was over, I started making my way back out of the arena. But things looked much different in the dark. As I walked around the campus, it was clear that I had no idea where I was. Soon I had to do what I hate to do the most. I had to ask for directions.

One of the campus security guards asked me where I had parked. Once I told him, he gave me directions exactly which way I should go. I knew what turns to take and which streets to cross, and soon, I found my car. I would have been searching for hours if not for his help.

It can be easy for us all to become distracted in this world. We can be in the middle of our walk with God but then quickly find ourselves traveling down the wrong path. The right way for the Christian is to depart from evil. Sometimes, we don’t always see that evil in front of us.

That’s why we must always ask God for directions. Our world will never be free from evil and sin. But God can help guide us in the path that will keep us from evil until our life on earth is through.

What decisions or paths are you taking in life? No matter what they are, stop and ask for directions. Ask God to give you guidance and lead you in His will and way.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
