And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. — John 6:11

Anyone who knows my wife knows that she is a great cook. While I often love to cook and prepare the things that I know how to make, she makes me look like an amateur. One thing about when she cooks, she always wants to make sure that we have enough.

For example, if someone is coming over to eat, she will cook more food than we need. She never wants anyone to leave our house hungry. If they do, it’s their own fault. She will cook a large amount of food so that anyone who sets foot in our house to eat can have all that they want. They will be fully satisfied.

The words of this verse in John 6 indicate the same thing. It’s an all-familiar story of how Jesus took the loaves and fishes, gave thanks, and fed the thousands. It wasn’t just barely enough. They had all they wanted with more left over. They were fully satisfied!

That is exactly how God wants our relationship with Him to be. He doesn’t want just to give us enough to get by. He doesn’t show us a few little details to get us interested in Him and leave. Instead, He wants to show Himself to us, allowing us to grow in Him. Not just a little, but as much as we want!

Are you fully satisfied with where your relationship with God is today? Are you as close to Him as you want to be? Do you know Him as well as you want to know Him? God is not holding back on you today. If you want to be closer and deepen your knowledge of Him, just ask! If you desire more of Him, He will leave you fully satisfied.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
