Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. — James 4:8
There is something to be said about spending time with someone. I often hear people talk about how they simply want some alone time. While I certainly understand the need for time for reflection, the truth is that our lives were not designed to be lived alone. God designed life to be lived with others around us. Our lives were designed with a need for close personal connection with others.
We find this connection displayed from the time we are born. God designed a family to be a close connection. Not all families are close, but that’s certainly how God designed it. So many times, we let sin and things come between that closeness God designed. He also designed our lives for marriage, a close and intimate relationship between a husband and wife.
Throughout scripture, we read about how our lives are intertwined with those around us. We are told to share the burdens of others, pray for others, encourage others, and more. As much as we sometimes hate to admit it, our lives were designed to be close to others.
But more than just being close to others around us, our lives were designed to be close to God. God wants to have an intimate relationship with us. That includes spending time with us daily. We do this by reading His word, spending time in prayer, and focusing on living for God in all aspects of our lives.
There is an importance of closeness in each of our lives. Do we place importance on closeness with those around us? But most of all, do we place an importance on our closeness to God? Do we value a strong relationship with Him and spending time with Him?
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
