For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. — 1 Timothy 4:8
Recently, I sat down at my computer and took a few moments to look through some social media. I don’t spend much time on social media, but it is always nice to keep up with friends and family who may not live nearby. As I started to scroll, I was hit with ad after ad for various things. But one of them caught my attention.
This ad had a spokesperson who claimed that the best thing you could do for your life was to eat right and work out. This person shared how their life was changed forever through proper diet and exercise. Of course, the ad wasn’t complete without photos to show weight loss and someone who was now in excellent physical shape.
I certainly agree that it is important for people to take care of themselves physically, and I am far from perfect in this myself. It is important that we take care of the life and body that God has given us. But diet and exercise are far from the most important thing you can do in your life.
Aside from giving your heart to Jesus Christ, living for God is the most important thing you can do with your life! In fact, we read here that living for God is profitable unto all things. In other words, all aspects of your life are improved when you live life for God.
It doesn’t mean you will have a million dollars in the bank. It certainly doesn’t mean you will never face sickness, troubles, and trials. But living for God adds something to your life that nothing else can!
As you look at your life, are you living life for yourself, or do you live life for God? Is He the focus of everything that you do? God wants to be first in your life. He should be the focus of all that we do and why we do it!
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
