In the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. — Philippians 2:15

With the recent time change, I was outside my house and realized that it was extremely dark. I have been outside our home on many occasions, but this time, something was different. With each step I took, I realized I couldn’t see where I was stepping. It was an uneasy feeling knowing that a steep hill was not that far ahead, but I couldn’t see it.

I quickly realized that we needed more lights outside our home. Without these lights, we could not see, and it could allow potential hazards and evils to lurk in the dark. So I purchased a new light, and soon, that side of our home was lit brightly. We could see if there were any hazards and make sure that we were safe.

All around us is a world filled with darkness. As he writes this letter, Paul describes a crooked and perverse nation to the people. But he could have easily been writing that letter about our nation today. It is a crooked, perverse, and vile nation. Our nation attempts to block the cause of truth and righteousness at every chance.

Amid all this darkness, our world needs lights. Without them, everyone will fall into the traps of this dark, perverse, and wicked world that we live in. This is why we must be letting our lights shine! We must live so that others can see the light in our lives, pointing them to Christ.

Are you letting your light shine in this dark world? Are we living for God, even though it may not always be the easiest? We may face persecution, ridicule, and torment. We may face the wrath of this world because they want to block our light from being seen. But no matter the cost, we must let our lights shine.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
