I remember joining the room that day, and everyone seemed deflated. We had all worked together for quite some time, so I knew what to expect most days. But this day was different. Soon, someone shared that a project we had all been working on would not happen. We were all excited about the project, but it would end immediately.
Not long after I entered, our leader joined us all. While the news was disappointing, I remember that he was surprisingly upbeat. Then, he proceeded to share with us that while some of the news was disappointing, there was a brighter note. We all were still at work, we were still making a difference, and there was more to our future than this project.
That perspective certainly changed the views of everyone that day. As everyone reflected on his words, the smiles and laughter returned, and soon, we were as focused as ever. Everyone was happy again because we realized that there truly was more that lay ahead.
It can be so easy to let things in life get us down. The situations happening in the world around us are enough on their own. Throw in a few personal problems and situations, and soon, you will find your smile and laughter leaving. But we all must remember that there is something more that lies ahead!
As Christians, we have a reason to be happy more than anyone else. We do not just exist in this life. Instead, we are just passing through. Something much greater lies ahead! Instead of hanging our heads, we should be happy and full of praise.
It can be so easy to lose our joy in life. But don’t let the things of this life rob you of your happiness. We have a future far better than anything this world has to offer.
