For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. — Jude 1:4
There have been many times in my life where I have watched others around me change. This has happened with family, friends, coworkers, and others. But for some reason, they were a certain type of person, but they changed. Some of these were Christians whom I had considered good friends. But something changed.
In some instances, they began abusing medications or other drugs. I recall one occasion when one of these individuals began to spend time with the wrong crowd and was influenced into a life of sin. But in each of these instances, something crept in and, little by little changed them from what they used to be.
As we look at the world around us, we can see it happening on a much larger scale. It reminds me of the warning of Jude here about those who would creep in unawares. It was an influence that seemed to sneak in without being noticed but soon would overwhelm and change the circumstances.
Satan and the world around us would love nothing more than to destroy us. Though we may consider ourselves strong Christians, we have to be careful of the influence of evil around us. Not one day goes by that we do not face the influence of evil.
Has anything crept into your life that seemed harmless but is starting to affect you? Maybe it started small, but now it is damaging your relationship with God and your testimony to others. When evil creeps in, it is hard to get it out. God already knows what you are dealing with. Confess it to Him and let Him help you eliminate the evil that has crept in.
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
