Step out of the dark

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. — Romans 13:12

I am a perfectionist by nature. When I am doing something, I want it to be done perfectly. I often find myself struggling when I cannot figure out how to get something to work or go together like it should. I will read instructions, search for videos, and even call friends to try to figure it out. Sometimes, I find out I was missing a piece, a step, or even worse, doing it wrong.

I don’t think that it’s human nature for us to want to do things wrong. We look at things through our own eyes. What makes sense to us may not make sense to others. Perhaps the way we think to do something isn’t appropriate to others.

But there are times when we know that we are doing wrong. We know that it isn’t what God would want us to do. Maybe it’s a willful sin, something that will hurt another Christian, or worse, a family member or friend. It is in those moments that our lives are clouded by darkness.

We don’t have to live in darkness. While our human nature may desire the darkness, our hearts should desire to live in the light. Sometimes, we have to make a purposeful decision to step out of the dark. We have to be determined that we are going to live in the light.

Are there things in your life that are holding you back in darkness? Too much of our lives are spent in the shadows of the darkness in this world. Our lives should be a beacon of light. Instead of choosing the darkness, choose to step out of the darkness. Put on the armor of light!

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
