Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.  — Ephesians 5:17

There are many times in our lives that we face decisions. I can’t help but laugh as I watch my son learn to make decisions on his own. There are times when he makes a good decision and listens to the things I have told him. At other times, he makes a bad decision and does the opposite of what I say.

As he learns about making decisions, I often catch myself watching him. I see him think about things before he makes a decision. I don’t always know what is going through his mind. However, I often think about what goes through my mind when I face decisions myself. Which way would I rather go? What makes the most sense? Is this really what I want?

Each of us makes decisions about our lives, not always knowing what the outcome will be. There are everyday decisions that may not alter our lives. Then, at times, there are life-altering decisions that we must make. But there is one thing we must consider when making decisions that is always right.

In this verse, we are reminded that it is wise to follow God’s will. In other words, when we face decisions, we should always choose the one that God would want us to do. There are many times we may need to seek God’s will. But there are also times when we know what God would want before we even make a decision.

What does God want in your life? Has God given you guidance on things in your life, but it’s not exactly what you want? Life gives us many choices, but God should be at the center of any decision we make. Following God’s will is always the smart decision.

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
