And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. — Matthew 25:25

“Just do something with it” were the words I was told. My boss at the time wanted me to plan an event for our company. It was something he did not want to have to do himself, so it was assigned to me. He didn’t really care how it was done. He just wanted it done. Then came the final words of instruction. “Remember, this one matters.”

It mattered because several key people would be at the event. There were leaders from the customers we were working with. There were executives of our company that would be there. Everyone there would experience this grand opening event, and it was up to me to deliver an event that would be a success.

I had been given something and was trusted to do something great with it. Not because I was an event planner but because my boss knew I would try to do my best. So, I went about planning the event, which seemed to go well. In the end, I remember my boss saying the words, “Nice work.”

As Christians, we have all been given something that we can use for God. For some, they may have been given talents. Others may have been given money or skills that are needed. No matter what you were given, God has trusted you to use it for Him.

But so many times, people are quick to run and hide. God needs them to use what they were trusted with, but they have hidden it instead. Instead of hiding it, we should use it for God! He has given it to us for a purpose. What has God given you to use for Him in this world? Do you use it for Him, or are you hiding it?

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
