For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. — Psalm 30:5

In the many years I worked as a Paramedic, my shifts were 24-hour shifts. I remember on so many occasions where the day was a calm normal day around the area I worked. But then the night came. There were bad car accidents, shootings, overdoses, and many other things that happened during the night.

These things would often make the night long and difficult. Not just for me and those who I worked with. But also those who we served. Many times families were involved, receiving phone calls that a loved one was hurt. At other times, they were the ones who found the loved one in need. Tears were shed often.

I couldn’t count the nights that I simply drove back to the EMS base wanting to see the morning. I wanted to get home to my wife. I wanted to get away from the sorrow, pain, and other things that I witnessed. It was always refreshing to see the sun start to rise over the horizon. The morning was here and the darkness was about to break.

Life often brings about those situations where we feel like we are enduring a night. Maybe you have found yourself in a time of sickness, heartache, or struggle before. You may even be in one now. While the sorrow in this life may endure for a night, I am so glad that is not the end!

God will send joy again into the situation. He doesn’t leave us to struggle in the middle of the darkness of life. It’s only temporary. Morning is on the horizon and joy is on the agenda. Joy that can only be found in God.

Darkness can only hold on for a short time. Don’t ever think that the situation is hopeless, or that you are left without any hope. In the morning, God will send joy once again. He always has and He always will.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
